Metallurgical Engineer / Analytical Scientist

This position has a broad range of activities and responsibilities in Metallurgy at MolyWorks Materials Corporation. The primary responsibility of the Plant Metallurgist is to assure the quality of the metal products produced in the foundry. Qualified applicants will have the following attributes:

  • Directly perform laboratory testing and assure quality of the foundry operations
  • Developing material specifications for raw materials
  • Characterizing microstructure and properties of Additively Manufactured parts
  • Specifying processing conditions to eliminate manufacturing defects
  • Establishing material post processing techniques to achieve required material properties and surface finishes
  • Supporting the development of in-situ and post fabrication material testing and characterization techniques to support component production
  • Establishing procedures for powder handling and recycling
  • Manage the operation of the QA lab and provide metallurgical and other technical support to internal and external customers.
  • Manage laboratory equipment, schedules, inventory, and safe chemical use and storage.
  • Evaluate samples and publish technical reports to support resolution of customer and internal plant quality issues, and product development projects.
  • Provide data and reports to management regarding product quality and the performance of the quality systems.
  • Implement inspection and testing processes and systems in compliance with company and customer requirements
  • Source for purchase and maintain product testing and inspection equipment.
  • Audit suppliers of raw material and address related quality issues
  • Review of engineering documentation to ensure it contains the necessary quality assurance and customer provisions and criteria. Serve as an issue resolution focal point that works with engineering and operations to drive continuous improvement in products and processes.
  • Collect and analyze data to identify adverse trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Various quality issues related to internal non-conformances, product returns, supplier issues, customer complaints and corrective action requests with clear and concise reports to customers.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Ability to adapt and perform during high stress environments/situations.

This position has a broad range of activities and responsibilities in Research and Development at MolyWorks. The primary responsibility of the Research and Development Scientist is to accelerate our technology portfolio. Qualified applicants will have the following attributes:

  • Expert knowledge in at least two of the following: atomization, plasma physics, multiphase fluid dynamics and computer modeling, process control and automation (PLC, Machine Vision, Robotics experience)
  • Record of technical contributions to advanced projects involving process development/control and applied science, including patents, and publications in peer-reviewed technical journals or major conferences.

This position involves foundry management, documenting R&D activities, and accomplishing projects which operate on a tight schedule.  The primary responsibilities of the position include: 1.  Manage a small production team, ensuring operations are performed on-schedule and product is produced in-spec, 2.  Maintain foundry equipment and shop areas with a high level of organization and cleanliness, 3. Job Description

R &D/ Production Technician

Duties:

  • Operate a computer controlled vacuum casting furnace
  • Maintain furnace and associated shop equipment
  • Process cast product and package for storage and shipping
  • Perform casting experiments and assigned research tasks
  • Document research and development process through lab notebooks or other methods
  • Maintain shop and foundry at a high level of cleanliness
  • Sweep Floor

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position is advertised as a journeyman level technical position
  • Applicant MUSThave strong mechanical and technical skills. Motor heads, mechanics, plumbers, fabricators, machinists encouraged to apply
  • High School Diploma or GED, or proof of basic writing and math skills
  • Must be reliable, have a good work ethic and attitude, and get along well with others.
  • Must be able to perform simple computer data entry tasks.
  • Able to lift 50-75 lbs. without restrictions and push heavy rolling loads.• Safety conscious, able to work safely in the shop and on the factory floor with complex machines and high pressure gasses with minimal supervision

Machinist/ Manufacturing Engineer

The position has a broad range of activities and responsibilities that are important to the effective operation of the Foundry:

  • Preparation, startup, monitoring, shutdown and post processing of CNC machined parts
  • Execution of various tests to support development activities
  • Perform layout and precision inspection
  • Capability to determine speeds, feeds, and tooling to efficiently machine assigned part
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of machine tool technology
  • Installation, commissioning, and verification of new equipment
  • Fabrication of test fixtures and tooling
  • Maintenance, modification and upgrades of machine tool equipment

Qualification:

The preferred candidate will have hands-on experience using various hand and industrial tools, machine tools and inspection equipment. She/he must be able to work effectively in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment focused on innovation and have demonstrated both verbal and written communication skills including:

  • Read and comprehend shop travelers, written instructions, and shop prints at the appropriate level
  • Calculate figures and amounts such as fractional size, decimal equivalent, and diameter
  • Perform math problems including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, geometry and trigonometry
  • Utilize precision measuring devices to inspect dimensions accurately within± .0005 and angles± .5°
